5. We're a female owned business
Kayleigh single-handedly established Sour Cherry in 2009! Since then she's spent years grinding, whilst working other jobs to build Sour Cherry without the help from investors.
Kayleigh only quit her job and pursued Sour Cherry full-time (for good in 2020 (just before the pandemic, but that's a whole other story).
Sour Cherry wouldn't be where it is today without Kayleigh handling failures and taking risks, whilst running.
6. We've been featured in Vouge
Did you know ...
At Sour Cherry, we create jewellery using perspex and acrylic. Our 'Made in Manchester' jewellery is all created in our Manchester office, designed by Kayleigh and then put together and finished off by the production team, Ana & Alice.
7. Sour Cherry was almost called 'Bells & Whistles'
Kayleigh started making Resin Jewellery in her parent’s garage, she explains that it was an easy entry point because the equipment wasn’t too expensive. Her first designs were made from sweets, such as the sprinkles bangle, she was testing what would work in resin.
When Kayleigh first started, she wanted to call the business ‘Bells & Whistles,’ however, when researching what would make a successful name it should be something that isn’t too complicated to spell because the online algorithm doesn’t work how it does now. She only used this name for a few weeks before realising it wasn’t going to work. She instead decided to go with a sweet related name, after extensively researching what was in the domain, she decided on Sour Cherry and never looked back.
